Be Caring: Business Culture Certified February 2026

Be Caring is an employee owned social care organisation delivering homecare and supported living services across the North of England, recognised for its values-led approach and commitment to people, communities and high quality care.

Be Caring became the first organisation to achieve Business Culture Certification, setting a powerful benchmark for what a genuinely people‑centred culture looks like in practice.

The Business Culture Assessment found a deep and authentic alignment between Be Caring’s purpose, values and everyday behaviours. Far from being aspirational statements, values such as kindness, support and pride are consistently experienced by colleagues on the frontline. When asked to describe the culture, employees most frequently used words like caring, kind, friendly and family — a rare example of an organisation’s identity being fully lived, not just communicated.

A standout strength was Employee Voice. As an employee‑owned organisation, Be Caring has embedded meaningful listening and influence at every level, including formal representation in governance. Colleagues feel able to speak up, contribute ideas and see evidence that feedback leads to action, creating high levels of trust, engagement and advocacy.

“As the first organisation to achieve Business Culture Certification, Be Caring sets a powerful benchmark for values‑led work.”

The assessment also highlighted Be Caring’s strong sense of purpose and its impact on outcomes. Colleagues clearly understand how their work contributes to the organisation’s mission and to the lives of the people they support. This clarity drives motivation, pride and a willingness to go “above and beyond” for clients and communities.

Importantly, the certification process did not shy away from areas for development. The assessment identified operational pressures that can make it harder for people to fully live the culture at times — insight Be Caring has welcomed as part of its commitment to continuous improvement.

Overall, Be Caring achieved an 84% certification score, exceeding the threshold and demonstrating a high‑trust, future‑ready culture. As the first certified organisation, Be Caring shows what is possible when values, ownership and leadership are aligned — providing a compelling model for the future of work in social care and beyond.
